simular
/simuˈlaɾ/ · B2 · verb
to feign, to pretend
🎭 simular = same-ish: look the SAME as something real, but it isn't
Comes from Latin simulare, from similis 'like, similar'. To simular is to make something seem similar to the real thing, so you either feign it (pretend to be sick) or simulate it (a flight simulator). English simulate is a direct cousin.
