incrustar

/inkɾusˈtaɾ/ · B2 · verb

to inlay, embed, encrust

💎🧱 in + crust: to set something into a surface so it forms a crust

Incrustar comes from Latin incrustare, built from in (into) plus crusta (hard shell, crust). Gems inlaid in a surface, or a hard layer forming on something, are both incrustar. By extension, ramming something into a thing makes it stick in like an inlay.
