funds

資金 — funds

💰 資 (assets) + 金 (money) = 資金: money held as assets, i.e. funds

資 means resources or assets, and 金 means money or gold. Together they name the money a business or person has available to spend, which is funds or capital.

金 — roof 亼 + two dots (metal nuggets) + earth 土
Originally a pictograph of metal nuggets buried in the earth beneath a covering, with the two dots representing pieces of ore. It first meant 'metal' broadly, then narrowed to 'gold' as the most precious metal, and by extension 'money'.
