🍎 腐 = rot + 敗 = ruin: food that rots has decayed, and a ruined character is depraved
腐 (fu) means rot, as in 豆腐 tofu, which spoils quickly. 敗 means defeat or ruin. Decay in food and depravity in people share the same root idea: something going bad from the inside.
