⛏️ 発掘 = 発 (launch out) + 掘 (dig): digging something out of the ground, then of talent

掘 (kutsu) means to dig, as in 掘る (horu). Digging up buried ruins or finding a hidden star both use the same dig, so a new talent unearthed works too.
