来場
らいじょう · raijou · JLPT N1 · noun
attendance
🎫 来 (come) + 場 (venue) = attendance: coming to the venue
場 is the place or venue, as in 会場 (kaijou, meeting hall). Add 来 (come) and you get 来場, the act of arriving at a venue, which is attendance.
来 — pictograph of a wheat plant with grain heads
来 originally depicted a stalk of wheat with drooping grain heads, and meant 'wheat' in oracle bone script. It was later borrowed phonetically to write the unrelated verb 'to come,' which became its dominant meaning. The original 'wheat' sense was taken over by 麥 (now 麦).
