usar

/uˈsaɾ/ · A1 · verb

to use

🔧 usar = to use: same Latin root (usus), just add the Spanish -ar ending

Both usar and English use come from Latin usus, from uti (to use). Strip the -ar verb ending and you have us-, the start of use. Spanish stretches it to clothing too: usar gafas = to wear glasses.
