tribal
/tɾiˈbal/ · B2 · adj
tribal
🛖 Same spelling as English, but stress the end: tri-BAL
It comes from Latin tribus, the name for Rome's three founding tribes (tri = three). Spanish adjectives ending in -al put the stress on that last syllable, as in normal and total, so you say tri-BAL. It has one form for masculine and feminine: un ritual tribal, una danza tribal.
