tejido
/teˈxido/ · B1 · noun · m
fabric
🧶🧵 tejido = woven, from tejer, Latin texere: same root as textile and texture
Spanish tejer (to weave) comes from Latin texere, which also gave English textile, texture and even text, a weave of words. Biology borrowed the same idea: tissue is cells woven together, so tejido covers both cloth and body tissue.
