suicidar

/swiθiˈdaɾ/ · B1 · verb

to commit suicide

Latin sui (of oneself) + -cidium (killing), plus the verb ending -ar

Same roots as English suicide, so the meaning carries over directly. In Spanish it is normally reflexive: suicidarse. Used with a direct object (suicidar a alguien) it is the dark or joking sense of making a killing pass as a suicide.
