sobrio
/ˈsobɾjo/ · B1 · adj
sober
💧 Cognate of English sober: Latin sobrius, from se- (without) + ebrius (drunk)
Sobrio and sober come from the same Latin word, sobrius, which literally meant not-drunk. The moderate sense grew out of that: a sobrio style or a sobrio meal is plain and restrained, never over the top. Its opposite is ebrio, meaning drunk.
