/ˈsimple/ · A2 · adj
simple
simple = English simple, said SEEM-pleh; from Latin simplex, one-fold
Latin simplex means one-fold: sim- (one, as in single) + -plex (fold, as in duplex or complex). One fold gives uncomplicated, single, and mere. Used of a person, un simple is a simpleton, the same root again.
