siempre
/ˈsjempɾe/ · A1 · adv
always
From Latin semper (always), as in the motto semper fi = always faithful
Latin semper became Spanish siempre: the e stretched to ie (as in tempus → tiempo) and the final -er flipped to -re. Italian sempre and Portuguese sempre are the same word.
