otro
/ˈotɾo/ · A1 · pron
other, another
otro = OTHER with the h dropped and the ending flipped: ot(h)er -> otro
From Latin alter (the other of two), the same root as English alter and alternative. Latin al- became o- in Spanish, as in alto/otero. To alter something is to make it other: alter -> otro.
