nuez
/ˈnweθ/ · B1 · noun · f
nut
🌰 From Latin nux (nut), the same root as nucleus, the kernel at the core
Latin nux, nucis meant nut. Its diminutive nucleus first meant a nut's kernel, then any core. So nuez and nucleus are cousins: the nut and its centre. Castilian says NWETH and Latin American Spanish says NWES. It is feminine: la nuez.
