no
/ˈno/ · A1 · adv
not
Same as English no — from Latin non; tag it on the end to mean right?
Spanish no comes from Latin non and does double duty: it means both no and not, placed before the verb (no hablo = I do not speak). Added at the end of a sentence with rising pitch, it turns into a tag question: Hace frío, ¿no?
