nada

/ˈnada/ · A1 · pron

nothing, zero, zilch, not...anything

From Latin res nata, thing born; the thing dropped out, leaving nothing

Latin non res nata meant not a born thing, i.e. not anything at all. Spanish kept only nata, which became nada and soaked up the negative sense. English borrowed it too: nada = zilch.
