momento

/moˈmento/ · A1 · noun · m

moment

⏱️ momento = English moment + o; Latin movere, to move, also gives momentum

From Latin momentum, a shortening of movimentum (movement). One root covers both senses: a tiny movement of time is a moment, and movement that keeps going is momentum. Spanish uses momento for both, and it is masculine: el momento.
