marchar
/maɾˈt͡ʃaɾ/ · A2 · verb
to go, travel
🥾 marchar = march + -ar: to march, hence to go, and to run (of machines)
From French marcher, to walk, the same source as English march. Spanish stretched the sense from stepping in time to simply going or leaving (marcharse), and then to things that go: a clock or engine that marcha is working.
