maldito

/malˈdito/ · A1 · adj

cursed

mal + dito = badly spoken: a curse laid on someone (Latin maledictus)

From Latin maledictus: male (badly) + dictus (said). English malediction is the same word. Someone spoken ill of is cursed, and from there it weakened into an everyday intensifier like damn or freaking.
