llenar

/ʝeˈnaɾ/ · A2 · verb

to fill something up

🪣 llenar = lleno (full) + -ar: to make full, from Latin plenus

Latin pl- became Spanish ll-: plenus gave lleno, just as pluvia gave lluvia. English kept the pl- in plenty and replenish. So llenar is to make plenty: fill a glass, fill out a form, fill the last seat in a group.
