ingenuo
/inˈxenwo/ · B2 · adj
naive, ingenuous, candid, innocent
🐑 in- (not) + genuo (born) = born plain, with no guile; sounds like 'inn-HEN-wo'
From Latin ingenuus, 'native-born, free-born', from in- (in) + gignere (to beget). Free-born people were seen as frank and honest, which shifted the meaning toward candid and then naive. Spanish also uses it for someone who acts naive on purpose.
