helado

/eˈlado/ · A2 · adj

icy, frozen

🍦🧊 hielo (ice) + -ado (-ed) = iced: frozen, and so ice cream

From helar, to freeze, from Latin gelare, the same root as gelato, gelid and jelly. Spanish turned the Latin g- into a silent h. As an adjective it means frozen or stunned (froze in shock); as a noun it is ice cream.
