harto
/ˈaɾto/ · B1 · adv
tired, fed up
🍽️ From Latin fartus, stuffed: same root as farce, which first meant stuffing
Harto comes from farcire, to stuff. Being stuffed is being full, then fed up (estoy harto), and something that fills you up is a lot (harto trabajo). Old Spanish turned Latin f into h, so fartus became harto, and h is silent: AR-to.
