guerrero

/ɡeˈreɾo/ · B1 · adj

warrior

⚔️🛡️ guerra (war) + -ero (one who does) = war-er, a warrior

Guerra comes from Germanic werra, which also gave English war. Spanish turned that W into GU, as in Guillermo = William. Add -ero (like zapatero, shoemaker) and you get the one who wages war.
