fatal

/faˈtal/ · B1 · adv

terrible, very bad

💀 Same word as English fatal; in Spanish slang it just means awful or terribly

It comes from Latin fatalis, from fatum, meaning fate. Spanish speakers use it loosely: lo pasé fatal means I had an awful time, and canta fatal means he sings terribly. Nobody has to die.
