evitar
/ebiˈtaɾ/ · A2 · verb
to avoid, to bypass, to evade, to circumvent, to dodge, to shun, to eschew
evitar = Latin e- (out) + vitare (shun); English inevitable = cannot evitar
From Latin evitare, to shun. English kept it inside inevitable: something in-evit-able is un-avoid-able. Strip the in- and -able and the core evit- is the Spanish verb. Spanish b/v sound alike, so it is said eh-bee-TAR.
