ejecutar
/exekuˈtaɾ/ · B1 · verb
to execute, to run
ejecutar = execute + -ar; both come from Latin exsequi, to follow through
Latin ex- (out) + sequi (to follow) gave exsecutus, meaning followed out to the end. Spanish kept the idea: ejecutar un plan, un programa, una sentencia, or una pieza musical. The j is said like a throaty h: e-he-ku-TAR.
