desnudo

/desˈnudo/ · A2 · adj

naked, nude, undressed

des- + nudo: Latin nudus, the same root as English nude

Desnudo comes from Latin nudus, source of English nude and denude. The des- prefix works like the de- in denude: it strips away. So desnudo = de-nuded, stripped bare, which also covers the sense of being left destitute.
