desagradable
/desaɡɾaˈdable/ · B1 · adj
unpleasant, disagreeable, distasteful, off-putting, displeasing, unpleasing, bad, rude, unsavory, uncomfortable, unlikable, objectionable, painful, uncongenial, crappy, gnarly
🤢 des + agradable = un + agreeable, just like English disagreeable
Agradable comes from agradar, to please, from Latin gratus, pleasing, which also gives English grateful and gratitude. Adding des- reverses it, the same way dis- works in English: not pleasing at all.
