costumbre
/kosˈtumbɾe/ · B1 · noun · f
custom, tradition
Cousin of English custom and costume, all from Latin consuetudo
Latin consuetudo (habit) became Old French costume, which gave English both custom and costume. A costume was once just the dress that was customary. Spanish kept the same root: costumbre, a habit or tradition.
