collar
/koˈʝaɾ/ · B1 · noun · m
necklace
📿🐕 Same as English collar: both come from Latin collum, neck
Latin collum (neck) gave collare, a thing worn on the neck. Spanish uses collar for a necklace and for a dog's collar. Say it koh-YAR, with the stress on the end. A shirt collar is a different word: cuello, which also comes from collum.
