cálido

/ˈkalido/ · B1 · adj

warm

☀️☕ From Latin calidus, warm: same family as calorie and cauldron

Latin calere meant to be warm, and gave calidus (warm). English kept relatives: calorie (a unit of heat), cauldron (a heating pot) and scald (from ex-calidus, very hot). Cálido is the gentle one: warm, not burning.
