Hangul (Korean alphabet)
🔤 한글 = han (Korean / great) + geul (script, writing)
한 means Korean, and also great in older usage; 글 means writing or script. So Hangul is literally the Korean script. The name was coined around 1912 by linguist Ju Si-gyeong for the alphabet King Sejong created in 1443.
