🤝 親切 = close (親) + earnest (切): treating someone as if close kin
From hanja 親 (chin: close, intimate, as in 친구 friend) and 切 (jeol: earnest, heartfelt). Adding 하다 makes it a descriptive verb: to be warm and earnest toward others. The same 親切 gives Japanese shinsetsu and Chinese qīnqiè.
