지난주

jinanju · TOPIK 1

last week

📅 지난주 = 지난 (past, gone by) + 주 (週, week)

지난 comes from the verb 지나다, to pass by, so the word literally says the week that passed. 주 is the hanja 週 (week), the same one in 이번 주 (this week) and 다음 주 (next week). Swap the first part and the week shifts.
