🇨🇳 중국 = 中 middle + 國 country: the Middle Kingdom
중 (jung) is the hanja 中, middle, as in 중간 (middle) and 중심 (centre). 국 (guk) is 國, country, as in 한국 (Korea) and 미국 (USA). Same two characters as Chinese Zhōngguó, just read the Korean way.
