🎒 準備 = 準 (standard, level) + 備 (equip): get equipped up to standard
Hanja 準 means a standard or level to measure against, and 備 means to equip or have ready. Preparation is literally equipping yourself to the standard. Same word as Chinese 准备 (zhǔnbèi) and Japanese 準備 (junbi).
