저 (that, far off) + 기 (place) = that place over there
Korean has a three-way set: 여기 (here), 거기 (there, near you), 저기 (over there, far from both). The 저 is the same far-off 'that' found in 저것 (that thing over there). Sound hook: jeogi ~ 'jog-ee' — far enough that you would have to jog over there.
