육

yuk · TOPIK 1

six (Sino-Korean)

육 = hanja 六; sounds like yuck — six is one too many, yuck

육 is the Sino-Korean reading of 六, the same character as Mandarin liù and Japanese roku. The native Korean six is 여섯; 육 is used for dates, phone numbers, money and minutes. Sound hook: five helpings were fine, the sixth gets a yuk.
