⚠️ 危險 = 위 (危 perilous) + 험 (險 steep, rugged): perilous + steep = danger
Both hanja mean hazard: 危 is the 위 in 위기 (crisis) and 險 is the 험 in 보험 (insurance) and 험하다 (to be rough). Same word as Chinese wēixiǎn and Japanese kiken, so one root covers three languages.
