어느 = 어 (uh...) + 느 (new): uh, new one... which one?
Sounds like uh-new. Say it as the hesitation before choosing: uh, new... which? 어느 always sits before a noun: 어느 나라 (which country), 어느 날 (a certain day, one day). Same 어- as in 어디 (where) and 어떤 (what kind).
