🚫 안 (not) + 되다 (to become/work) = to not work out, not be allowed
안 is the short negator meaning not. 되다 means to become, to work out, or to be OK. Together: it does not work, or it is not OK. The everyday form 안 돼 is how Koreans say no way or you can't.
