🏢 a-pa-teu = English apartment, clipped to its first three syllables
A loanword from English: apartment was shortened to apart, then fitted to Korean sounds as a-pa-teu. The final eu is a filler vowel Korean adds because a syllable cannot end in a bare t sound. In Korea it usually means a high-rise flat complex.
