🍚🥢 食事 = eat (식) + affair (사): the business of eating
식 (食) means eat, as in 식당 (restaurant) and 음식 (food). 사 (事) means matter or affair, as in 사건 (incident). A meal is literally an eating-affair. Same hanja as Japanese 食事 (shokuji).
