🐟 生鮮 = raw/living (生) + fresh (鮮): fresh catch, fish as food
Hanja 生 (saeng, life/raw) + 鮮 (seon, fresh) literally say fresh and raw. Korean narrowed that to fish caught for eating, while 물고기 (water-meat) is the live animal. Same 生 as in 생일 (birthday) and 학생 (student).
