❓ 물어보다 = 묻다 (ask) + 보다 (try): to try asking
묻다 means to ask; its ㄷ turns into ㄹ before a vowel, giving 물어. Adding 보다 (to see, to try) softens it into give asking a go. The same -어 보다 pattern appears in 먹어보다 (try eating) and 가보다 (try going).
