덥다

deopda · TOPIK 1

to be hot (weather)

🥵☀️ deop-da sounds like damp, duh: hot, sticky summer weather

덥다 is only for weather or how warm you feel, never for hot objects (that is 뜨겁다). It is a ㅂ-irregular: the ㅂ turns into 우, so you say 더워요 (deowoyo) for it is hot. Opposite: 춥다, to be cold.
