🎤 노래 (norae, song) + 하다 (hada, to do) = to do a song
Korean builds many verbs by adding 하다 (to do) to a noun. 노래 means song, so 노래하다 is literally to do song. 노래 itself comes from the old verb 놀다 (to play), the same root as 놀이 (game), so a song is a kind of play.
