☔ 날 (day) + 씨 (state, condition) = the day's condition
날 is the native Korean word for day, as in 오늘날 or 날짜. The ending 씨 marks a state or manner, the same one found in 솜씨 (skill) and 마음씨 (disposition). So 날씨 is literally the state of the day: the weather.
